From the series Monumental Misconceptions

Liane Lang studied at NCAD in Dublin and completed a BA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College followed by a Postgraduate Diploma at the Royal Academy, where she graduated in 2006. She lives and works in London. Her work examines monuments, museums and memorials in staged photographs and animation films. Using life like figures and objects she makes in the studio, she weaves narratives together of memories, myths and ideas that allow the objects to reveal hidden meanings and lures out the spectres of their history. Photographic work is currently on display at the Musee de Beaux Arts in Calais, as part of Monument, at the Royal Academy in London as part of the summer exhibition, at The House of St Barnabas in London’s Soho. In July she will launch an artist book with Kaleid Editions funded by the Arts Council of England. She is currently on residency at the Art and Music Department at John Jay College in New York City . In September she will spend one month on the Italian Riviera on a fellowship from the Bogliasco Foundation. In the autumn term she will be artist in residence at Eton College in Berkshire with an exhibition in early 2015.
